Bo Booth

Bo Booth, born on March 14, 1946, began his impactful career in education and athleticism in 1968 in Missouri, before planting his roots in West Tennessee in 1972. Over the next almost four decades, Booth dedicated his life to serving as an educator and administrator, shaping the futures of countless young people and significantly contributing to the Tennessee Secondary School Athletic Association (TSSAA).

His journey saw him taking on roles with increasing responsibility, initially serving as an Assistant Principal and then Principal at Dyer High School for six years. Booth continued to ascend in his career, becoming both the Principal and Athletic Director at Gibson Co. High School from 1979 until 2009. His leadership and dedication to advancing high school athletics were consistently demonstrated, earning him the title of TSSAA Principal of the Year in the 8th Athletic District in 2001, a testament to his unwavering commitment to high school sports and education.

Booth's legacy was further immortalized when the gymnasium at Gibson Co. High School was named the "B.O. Bo Booth Gymnasium" in his honor. Beyond his roles as an educator and administrator, Booth was deeply involved with TSSAA, hosting and serving as the tournament director for numerous district, region, and sub-state games. His tireless efforts played a crucial role in the success and organization of these events, ensuring they ran smoothly and benefited the student-athletes participating.

Recognizing Bo Booth's monumental contributions to high school athletics and education in Tennessee, he was inducted into the TSSAA Hall of Fame in 2016. This accolade celebrates not just a career but a lifetime of service to TSSAA and the young individuals it represents, firmly establishing Booth's legacy as a pillar of high school sports in Tennessee.
