Faye Osteen

Faye Osteen's remarkable career in education and noteworthy contributions to the TSSAA culminated in her 2010 induction into the TSSAA Hall of Fame. Born on October 25, 1935, Osteen began her career as a teacher in the Memphis City Schools and Millington Central High School, where she dedicated seven years to teaching before transitioning into a role as a guidance counselor at Millington Central High School from 1963 to 1975. She then served as an Administrative Assistant at the same institution for two years (1975-1977) before embarking on a lengthy 20-year tenure as Assistant Principal at both Millington Central High School and Germantown High School, spanning from 1978 to 1998.

Notably, in her early years, Osteen proved academically exceptional herself, earning the distinction of Valedictorian at Millington Central High School in 1953. Her personal and professional life intertwined when she married William Osteen in October of 1971, having been hired by him as a teacher at Millington in 1957. Her husband, also known as "Mr. Bill," was a charter member of the TSSAA Hall of Fame in 1982 and served on the TSSAA Board of Control for 29 years, highlighting the couple's deep-rooted involvement with the association.

Undoubtedly, one of Faye Osteen's most enduring legacies is establishing the TSSAA Hall of Champions in 2000. Recognizing nearly four decades of commitment and service to TSSAA by herself and her husband, she sought to honor members of the TSSAA Hall of Fame and underscore the ongoing development of TSSAA as the premiere governing body for high school athletics in Tennessee. The formation of the Hall of Champions not only commemorated past achievements but also laid a foundation for celebrating future generations. Osteen's role on the TSSAA Hall of Champions steering committee further signifies her dedication and influence within the association.
