Born on August 24, 1951, Chauncy embarked on a path that would see him dedicating over five decades to the betterment of high school sports within the state. His journey with the TSSAA began in 1972 when he registered as a basketball official, laying the groundwork for a long and impactful career.

In 1985, Chauncy took a significant step in his career by joining the Metropolitan Nashville School System (MNPS). Over the next 33 years, his roles within MNPS were diverse and consequential. He served as a teacher, coach, assistant principal, executive principal, and lead principal across various schools. Chauncy's leadership and excellence were particularly notable during his tenure as the executive principal at Hillwood High School, where his efforts earned him the title of Principal of the Year in 2012.

Further solidifying his dedication to high school athletics, Chauncy served on the TSSAA Board of Control for nine years from 2009 to 2018. This period was marked by his influential participation in decision-making processes that shaped the future of TSSAA sports. His unwavering commitment was recognized upon his retirement from MNPS in 2019, leaving behind a legacy of devotion to student athletics and education.

Chauncy's career achievements have also been acknowledged beyond the TSSAA. He is a member of both the Metro Basketball Coaches Hall of Fame and the Metro Football Coaches Hall of Fame, honors that underscore his significant contributions to high school sports.
