Wanda Belt

Wanda Belt, born on March 27, 1947, has had a distinguished career serving the Tennessee Secondary School Athletic Association (TSSAA), earning her induction into the TSSAA Hall of Fame in 2015. Belt’s career with the TSSAA spanned over two decades, during which she played a pivotal role in the operations of the state office. She showcased her commitment and dedication by working closely with two of the association's Executive Directors, Ronnie Carter and Bernard Childress, serving as an indispensable Administrative Assistant. Her responsibilities were vast and critical to the framework of the TSSAA, including handling eligibility questions on a daily basis, a task that required a deep understanding of TSSAA regulations and the ability to communicate effectively with schools and athletes.

Belt’s responsibilities extended to processing all transfer students, dictation, and other tasks as directed by the Executive Director. Her involvement with the TSSAA was not limited to office duties; she actively worked in the ticket office at the TSSAA State Basketball Championships annually. Moreover, Belt was a familiar face at the TSSAA Spring Fling headquarters each year, demonstrating her versatility and commitment to high school sports.

Her contributions to the TSSAA extended to the organization's significant events and processes. Belt worked closely with the TSSAA Hall of Fame for many years, ensuring the recognition of individuals' contributions to high school athletics in Tennessee was handled with diligence and respect. She was an ever-present figure at every TSSAA Board of Control and Legislative Council meeting, preparing agendas and minutes, thereby playing a crucial role in the governance of high school sports in the state.

Serving as the TSSAA Office Manager, Belt helped lead the staff in its daily operations, showcasing her leadership and her ability to manage a dynamic work environment. Her induction into the TSSAA Hall of Fame in 2015 was a testament to her invaluable contributions and dedicated service to high school sports across Tennessee, marking a hallmark of dedication and excellence in service to the TSSAA.
