Sisco, celebrated for his extensive contributions to education and athletics, embarked on his distinguished career in 1927 as a teacher and coach at Lewis County High School, roles he passionately filled until 1970. Born on June 30, 1904, Sisco began his educational journey while still an undergraduate at Middle Tennessee State University (MTSU), eventually shaping the lives of countless young individuals over his 43 years in education. His commitment to nurturing young minds was further highlighted when he took on the role of principal at the same institution from 1941 to 1971, demonstrating his dedication to both academic and athletic excellence.

Sisco's influence extended beyond local school walls into the broader realms of high school athletics in Tennessee. From 1951 to 1971, he served on the TSSAA Board of Control for 20 years, where he played a pivotal role in advocating for fair and competitive play among high school teams. Notably, he was a key figure in the introduction of a tie-breaker rule to determine the winners of football games in the state, a testament to his commitment to enhancing the sporting experience for athletes and fans alike.

His contributions were recognized beyond the corridors of sports and education. Sisco received the Civic Heritage Award for his service to Lewis County, and in honor of his significant impact, the Lewis County football stadium was named "A. B. Sisco Athletic Field." In a further tribute to his legacy, 1973 saw the celebration of "A. B. Sisco Day" in Hohenwald, where the community gathered in a large-scale event to honor his lifetime of service.

In 1986, Sisco's profound impact on education and athletics was immortalized with his induction into the TSSAA Hall of Fame, a fitting capstone to a career dedicated to the advancement of high school sports and the betterment of student-athletes' lives. A. B. Sisco passed away on November 4, 1990, leaving behind a legacy marked by dedication, innovation, and community service that continues to inspire.
