Isaac "Ike" White Jr.'s career was rooted in education, coaching, and administration, distinguishing himself enough to be inducted into the TSSAA Hall of Fame in 2019. Born on August 4, 1951, Ike dedicated his life to the Shelby Co. School System in various capacities. Over 25 years, he coached a wide range of sports, including football, basketball, track, baseball, golf, and wrestling, showcasing his versatility and commitment to student-athletes. Notably, he served as the head football coach at Fairley High School in Memphis for 23 years, indicating his deep connection and influence within the local sports community.

From 1974 until 1988, Ike taught and coached at both Central and Fairley high schools in Memphis, also dedicating 27 years to teaching business education. His leadership extended beyond the classroom and the field as he assumed roles as an athletic director and an assistant principal for nine years at Fairley High School. His administrative capacities were further recognized through his principalships at Hamilton High School for four years and at Westwood High School for five years.

Ike's service to the TSSAA was a hallmark of his career. He was a member of the TSSAA Board of Control from 2006 until his retirement in 2015, playing a crucial role in the governance and strategic direction of high school sports in Tennessee. His accolades include being named TACA Region 8 Coach of the Year in 1997, Memphis City Schools Professional Development Principal Leader in 2007, and Southwest Region 2 Principals’ Cluster Leader in 2013.

Ike White Jr.'s multifaceted career as a teacher, coach, and administrator, coupled with his significant contributions to the TSSAA, made him a deserving inductee into the TSSAA Hall of Fame in 2019, leaving a lasting legacy in Tennessee's athletic and educational circles.
