Here, he laid the foundations of his legacy, coaching football to a commendable record of 34 wins, 7 losses, and 2 ties, with the 1967 team going undefeated. His acumen extended to basketball, leading his team to a 9th-grade championship in his very first year, and also contributed to the track & field program.

In 1972, Brown's journey took him to Maryville High School, where he assumed the role of Assistant Football Coach, serving as the offensive coordinator. His tenure was marked by significant success, helping guide the team to two TSSAA State Championships and achieving the status of TSSAA State Runner-Up twice. Transitioning into administrative roles, Brown served as Assistant Principal at Maryville High School for over 22 years across two terms (1984-2002 and 2003 to his induction), briefly taking the helm as Principal in 2002. Brown's dedication to the TSSAA was unwavering, evidenced by his 12-year (and ongoing, at the time of his induction) tenure on the Board of Control from 1995.
