Steve Trussler, an unparalleled figure in the realm of Tennessee high school sports, has been inducted into the TSSAA Hall of Fame, marking a remarkable end to an illustrious career spanning over half a century. Beginning his journey as an official for football, basketball, baseball, and softball, Trussler dedicated 52 years to TSSAA, officiating approximately 4,000 sanctioned contests—a testimony to his commitment and love for high school sports.

His journey saw him working numerous district, regional, and sectional games, with his expertise and fairness being recognized at the highest levels. Trussler left an indelible mark on Tennessee high school baseball by working eight TSSAA State Baseball Championships and showcased his versatility by working a State football championship as well. Beyond the playing fields, he also served as a volunteer for 15 TSSAA State Golf Championships, illustrating his diverse contributions and unwavering support to TSSAA over the decades.

Trussler's accomplishments were further highlighted by his administrative roles. As the Athletic Director at Grundy Co. High School, he exemplified leadership and dedication to student-athletes, earning him the prestigious titles of TSSAA Athletic Director of the Year in 2018 and the Athletic District 3 Athletic Director of the Year the same year.

His half-century of service didn’t go unrecognized, earning him the 2020 A. F. Bridges Sportsmanship Award and a 2020 Award of Merit, which celebrated his incredible 50 years of service as a TSSAA official. Steve Trussler's induction into the TSSAA Hall of Fame in 2024 cements his legacy as a titan of high school sports in Tennessee, lauding not just his umpiring and officiating prowess, but his significant service and contributions to TSSAA and the values it stands for.
