Covered local TSSAA High School sports 38 Years (1955 – 1992)

1965WKBJ added the FM, then formed the West TN Basketball Network to broadcast TSSAA State Basketball Boys and Girls Tournaments

1993TSSAA authorized a TSSAA statewide network attracting 22 stations over the state to the network (Billy Haney, Dick Palmer, & Dan Hughes)

TSSAA Official 6 Years (1964 – 1970)

      • Football

    • Helped to open the first radio station in Milan, TN—WKBJ-AM
    • WKBJ broadcasted local basketball and football games
    • When TSSAA went to three classifications, Haney joined forces with the late Monte Hale, Sr. of Murfreesboro to form the Tennessee Basketball State Network, feeding stations all across the state
    • Haney has broadcast over 2,000 TSSAA High School games in his career
    • Inducted into the Gibson County Hall of Fame in 1995
    • University of Tennessee Hall of Fame 2001
    • Milan Man of the Year 1996
    • Milan Jaycee Man of the Year 1963
    • Conducts Billy Haney Sports Show on ESPN Radio—96.5 in Lexington, TN (2000 – Present)
    • Worked for the FBI from 1949 – 1955 (took 2 year leave to serve in U. S. army during Korean Conflict)
