Ray Moffett, born on October 25, 1934, dedicated his career to officiating and supervising sports, culminating in his 2005 induction into the TSSAA Hall of Fame. His journey with the TSSAA began in 1960, marking the start of an impressive 41-year tenure as an official in the association. Over these four decades, Moffett significantly contributed to high school sports, particularly in basketball where he officiated for 31 years. Notably, his expertise and fairness on the court were recognized at various levels of competition, including district, region, and sub-state tournaments, with his participation in the 1980 TSSAA State Tournament being a highlight of his officiating career.

In addition to his contributions on the basketball court, Moffett also served as an umpire in baseball for 10 years within the TSSAA framework. His commitment to high school sports extended beyond the field and court into administrative roles, where he made a lasting impact as the Supervisor/Assigning Officer for the South Central Basketball Officials Association.
