His leadership on the basketball court led to 14 district titles, 6 region titles, and notably, the TSSAA State Championship in 1958 with Lenoir City. Beyond his coaching achievements, Little also served as an Athletic Director for Johnson City Schools from 1979 to 1983, showcasing his administrative capabilities in sports. His career in education extended further as he took on roles such as Interim Superintendent and Assistant Superintendent for Johnson City Schools until 1989, reflecting his commitment to both athletic and academic excellence.

Notably, Elvin Little was a celebrated athlete himself, being a four-year member of the University of Tennessee Volunteer basketball team. His influence reached legends in other sports as well, having coached Steve Spurrier, a Heisman trophy winner, in 1963. His induction into multiple hall of fames, including the Upper East Tennessee Hall of Fame and his alma mater's hall of fame in West Virginia, underscores his widespread recognition and respect in the field of athletics.
